I have had the privilege of teaching the terrific students at Swallow School since 1999.  After earning a Master's Degree in Professional Development from Cardinal Stritch University, I have continued my education on a daily basis at Swallow School by creating, nurturing, and maintaining an environment where children can grow, learn, and thrive.  Every year I look forward to helping students reach their potential while becoming responsible, kind citizens of our wonderful learning community.

Welcome to first grade! My name is JoEllen Schuh, and I am thrilled to be part of the first grade team at Swallow! I have had the privilege of teaching at Swallow for the past 21 years, and I have been teaching for a total of 26 years. Throughout my career, I have taught elementary Spanish, third grade, and first grade. This will be my 12th year of teaching first grade. I received both my undergraduate and Master's degrees from UW-Whitewater.

I look forward to nurturing your child and helping him or her to thrive in my classroom. I strive to create a fun and supportive environment in my classroom where children feel safe and are excited to learn and try new things. Children make such amazing growth in first grade, and it is so rewarding to be a part of this journey with them! I love my job, and I love first graders!

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, walking, and baking. My husband and I live in Oconomowoc and have two sons who attend Oconomowoc High School and UW-Platteville. We love to attend the many sporting and music events our sons are involved in.

I am excited for another wonderful year of learning!
