The District is committed to finalizing a long-range plan to update educational spaces that support exceptional educational offerings in a rapidly changing world. “Swallow School has been the educational home to thousands of children over more than 170 years and has been a meeting place for community members for generations,” notes School Board President John Stahl. “Now, as we look to the future, we must ensure that the school building and grounds are designed to best serve current and future Swallow students.”

In 2013, 2016 and most recently in January 2018 the School Board held a series of Community Conversations engaging students, parents, staff, and residents. These Conversations shaped a shared vision for curriculum, programming, services, and spaces to meet the community’s needs.

In 2017 the School Board formed a Facility Advisory Committee (FAC) made up of a cross-section the community. The FAC was charged with understanding the vision along with known maintenance needs to identify a recommended Long-Range Plan for the district. While the FAC has studied options and made various recommendations, the School Board is committed to finalizing a plan that reflects the priorities of district taxpayers. Taxpayers have the opportunity to provide feedback on the FAC’s Long-Range Master Plan through a Community Survey available in early May.

Surveys will be delivered to all district households on or around April 27 and will be made available through May 21, 2018. The School Board is working with School Perceptions LLC, an independent Wisconsin firm specializing in school district surveys. All information will remain confidential and anonymous.

Residents can take the survey on or before May 21 in two easy ways:

ONLINE: Log on to www.survey2000.com and enter the survey access number printed on the mailing to every district household. We encourage residents to take the survey online to reduce handling costs to the district.

OR

PAPER: A hard copy of the survey is being mailed to every household in the district, complete with a postage-paid return envelope. Once completed, please use the enclosed return envelope to mail it directly to School Perceptions.

Findings from the community survey will be presented at the School Board meeting on Sunday, June 3. Results will also be available on the district website at: www.swallowschool.org.
