The School Board has been deeply engaged in the process to identify a new Superintendent for Swallow School District. On May 15 the initial 18 candidate applications and video screening interviews were reviewed and six candidates were invited for in-person interviews. The Board conducted the first set of interviews on Thursday, May 18 and Friday, May 19, 2023. Those interviews assessed candidates utilizing the Key Characteristics identified in partnership with the Transition Committee.

This event is open to the public and will feature: Tours of the school will be provided on the half hour. Get your piece of Swallow history! Purchase a brick from the 1894 building for $10! Donations of any amount will be taken for all artwork and athletic awards from years gone by Chick-Fil-A will be onsite with dinner available for purchase from 4 - 7 pm.

The Wisconsin DPI announced that the Swallow School District earned a 92.6 and rating of Significantly Exceeds Expectations for the 2021-22 school year, making it the fourth best scoring District of 421 in the state, with subcategory scores of 93.8 for achievement, 83.1 for growth, 89.7 for target group outcomes, and 95.2 for on-track to graduation. District overall achievement in the sub-area of English-Language Arts was in the top 3 with a score of 92.4 and top 4 in the sub-area of Math with a score of 95.1.

On October 31, the Board of Education for the Swallow School District approved and authorized the tax levy of $4,889,863 to operate and maintain the District for 2022-23 school year. This tax levy is down $24,996 which equates to a 0.51% decrease from the previous year’s levy. The overall tax rate decreases from last year’s $4.94 per $1,000 of home value to $4.22, a decrease of 14.57%.

On Tuesday, October 4th, Swallow Middle School students went to the Waukesha County Expo center to attend the Waukesha County Business Alliance’s ‘Experience the Trades Expo’. Students walked around and were initially engaged by candy and door prizes, but candy was not the only takeaway! Hands-on experiences offered by each company in attendance provided valuable chances to learn about careers in the trades.

Swallow School Earns Top Rankings from Niche for 2023

The Swallow School District received top rankings in the Milwaukee area as well as the state of Wisconsin from Niche.com for 2023. Swallow Elementary School is ranked #10 in Wisconsin out of nearly 1,100 schools while staff earned a 2nd place ranking. Swallow Middle School is ranked #7 in the state out of nearly 600 schools with staff also earning a 2nd place ranking. National rankings are just as impressive with staff ranking in the top 0.2% of all teachers in the country and school performance in the top 1%.

Mrs. Jackie Hagenow has been awarded a Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellowship Award. Hagenow is in her 32nd year teaching at Swallow School. She is one of 100 teachers around the state to be chosen for this honor. Fellowship recipients are educators who have been chosen for their superior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students, their ability to motivate others, and their leadership and service within and outside the classroom.
