Swallow is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as a Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished School for providing broad access to transformative learning opportunities for students through PLTW Gateway. PLTW Gateway is an essential part of every student's experience at Swallow in grades 6, 7 and 8. Swallow is one of just 148 middle schools across the U.S. to receive this honor. PLTW is a nonprofit organization that serves millions of PreK-12 students and teachers in schools across the U.S. The PLTW Distinguished School recognition honors schools committed to increasing student access, engagement and achievement in their PLTW programs.
As a result of community feedback, and analyzing the skills that our students will need to thrive in the future, Swallow is proud to provide a comprehensive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) experience to all of our students. Critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork are all required skills for the workplaces of the present and future. The foundation for those skills begins at Swallow. 2018 marked the expansion of PLTW at Swallow through the Launch program in grades 5K-8.
