Last night, Dr. Melissa Thompson, Superintendent of the Swallow School District shared the outcomes of the most recent Community Conversations Series with members of the Facility Advisory Committee. The Community Conversations gatherings were held at the school as well and throughout the community in the homes of residents in the district. Community Conversations began in the 2013-14 school year when the school board and administration committed to holding a series of gatherings every other year to engage all district residents, school families, students and staff to provide important feedback to shape the vision for the school district’s future.

According to Superintendent Thompson, “The Community Conversations series was an opportunity to share the committee’s learning to date and to build upon our shared vision for the future of our district’s programming, services, and spaces to support each.” In addition to sharing the outcomes of the Community Conversations, the committee also heard from Jeremy Struss, Business Manager, who shared the 5 year financial forecast for the district. Representatives from Plunkett Raysich Architects (PRA) and C. G. Schmidt Construction were also on hand to share long range master planning options, capital improvement, maintenance project and improvements lists.

Members of the community are encouraged to visit the district’s website www.swallowschools.org for further information. The next Facility Advisory Committee Meeting will be held Tuesday, February 19, at 6:30pm in the Discovery Lab at Swallow School.
