Residents of the Swallow School District voted in support of the Long-Range Master Facilities Plan put forth by the School Board following a five year process involving community members at several points, coupled with favorable results from last spring’s Community Survey. The Board of Canvassers will meet at 9:30am on Friday, November 9 to certify the election results.

School Board President John Stahl commented, “We are happy that the majority of residents are in agreement with the proposed long-range master facilities plan. While Community Survey data suggested support for the original plan, with the advice of the Facilities Advisory Committee, the board listened to feedback and reduced the referendum question amount to create a no tax increase scenario for taxpayers. Passage of this referendum allows us to keep the needs of students first because major capital improvements will not have to take precedence over classroom supports and resources.”
In a letter to staff, Superintendent Melissa Thompson thanked employees for, “Always prioritizing knowing and growing our students and helping our parents and residents see, through these tireless efforts, the great impact that happens with their partnership.” She continued by stating, “We are Swallow Strong and have a bright future as a district.”
The School Board will discuss next steps at its meeting on Thursday, November 15 and residents can anticipate upcoming announcements about the design process and how to stay informed.
