This is the image for the news article titled Swallow School Facilities Advisory Committee Consults Baird and School Perceptions as it Hones RecommendationsAfter months of study, the Facility Advisory Committee (FAC) began a review of three initial concepts for a long-range master facilities plan presented by architect Nicholas Kent of PRA, heard funding options based on the district’s financial position from Mike Clark of Baird, and studied various approaches to creating community-wide surveys with Bill Foster of School Perceptions LLC. at its meeting last night.

Rooted in feedback from the recent Community Conversations series and known capital improvement and maintenance needs, each option presented provided FAC members with different approaches to meet these needs and priorities at different levels of investment. FAC members asked for design modifications which will be presented at the next meeting along with updated costing.

To better understand the district’s financial position and potential funding options for a long-range master facilities plan, Mike Clark from Baird explained the timeline for repayment of the district’s existing debt along with the favorability of the district’s AA credit rating for potential borrowing scenarios if the district were to pursue additional funding to implement a plan.
The survey framework options presented by Bill Foster paved the way for a group of volunteers from the committee to begin drafting one to solicit community-wide feedback later in the spring.

Members of the community are encouraged to visit the school district’s website www.swallowschool.org for further information. The next Facility Advisory Committee Meeting will be held Thursday, March 22 at 6:30pm in the Library at Swallow School.
