This is the image for the news article titled Swallow School Facilities Advisory Committee Drafts Proposal and SurveyThe Swallow School Facility Advisory Committee (FAC), which began in November of 2017, drafted proposed facility updates as the basis for a long-range master facilities plan and a community-wide survey to gather feedback from taxpayers at its meeting last night.

After an extremely rigorous process including meeting with teachers and school staff, reviewing video footage of daily operations, participation in this year's Community Conversations series, and discussions on the condition of the building with board-approved construction manager C.G.Schmidt, in collaboration with Nicholas Kent of PRA, thirteen different options for facilities updates were vetted before the FAC reached consensus on the one put forth to the school board.

Rounding out its charge of understanding current needs, helping to identify and assess solutions, reviewing potential long-range master facilities plan options, and providing input on a community-wide survey, the committee concluded its meeting by finalizing a survey to gather feedback from district taxpayers about its proposed facility updates which will be presented to the school board today at a Special Meeting for approval. The survey is set to hit mailboxes by the end of April.
"Our school’s facilities are very important to our community as they support the dynamic programming we have now but also must be flexible enough to support our shared vision for future programming,” said John Stahl, President of the Swallow School Board. “While we have had opportunities for all stakeholders to be involved in this planning process, now that there is a formal proposal, it is important to give all taxpayers a voice via the survey to provide the board feedback as we determine next steps.”

Survey responses will be accepted through May 21. The results will be presented publicly to the School Board on Sunday, June 3 at 3pm. More information on the Facility Advisory Committee and the Long-Range Master Facilities Plan can be found on the district’s website www.swallowschool.org in the Board of Education section under Long-Range Planning.
