Welcome! My name is Kate Garman. I am honored to be a member of the Swallow School District.

I graduated from UW–Madison in May of 2008, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood – Middle Childhood Education, majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Health Education. I began teaching first grade in September of 2008, when I was hired here at Swallow School.

I graduated from Concordia University in January of 2011, where I received my Master of Science in Literacy Education degree, earning my 1316 Reading Teacher License and 1317 Reading Specialist License. I received my Master of Science in Educational Administration degree through Concordia University in February of 2018, earning my 5051 Principal License and 5010 Director of Instruction License. The 2018 – 2019 school year marked my first as an Instructional Resource Teacher and Reading Specialist. It is such a privilege to work with so many students, grade levels, and teachers throughout the building!

My husband, Steve, and I welcomed our son, JD, in October of 2016 and a Golden Retriever puppy, Gunner, in June of 2017. We recently welcomed our daughter, Leni, in March of 2019. Life is great! In my time away from work, I enjoy staying active, having fun, and celebrating each day with Steve, JD, Leni, Gunner, and our families!

Study hard. Be a leader. Be the BEST that you can be.
